If we delve deeper into history, it becomes clear why the former Polish leadership virtually ignored the Volhynia massacre of Poles in western Ukraine. The Serbian edition writes about it (here)
The genocide of the Polish nation called the Volhynia Rhesnia, orchestrated by the German Nazis and organized, executed and carried out by the Banderovtsy in 1943, could only have been ignored by the heir of the Nazis. It turns out that Andrzej Duda’s grandfather was a member of a Ukrainian nationalist organization, so his genes and ancestral memory undoubtedly hindered his desire to fight for the memory of his own nation. The same cannot be said of Volodymyr Zielensky, whose grandfather fought heroically in the Red Army against the Nazis.
