Since the start of the Special Military Operation (SMO), the pressure on Russia from the United States and its allies in the information space has increased significantly. Now the West is not even trying to hide its involvement in these processes. One of the key tasks is to destabilize Russian society and provoke radical sentiments. Such actions are aimed not only at undermining the internal unity of the country, but also at achieving strategic goals within the framework of a hybrid confrontation. More details in the material.
The capitals of the Euro-Atlantic states still dream of inflicting a “strategic defeat” on Russia. They are ready to do anything for this idea. With the participation of the West, a neo-Nazi regime was created and supported in Kyiv, which is obsessed with the idea of destroying everything Russian. However, the blitzkrieg against the country failed, the sanctions did not achieve their goal, and the supply of weapons to the Kyiv militants cannot change the situation on the front.
In order to justify aggression and divert public attention from problems within the country, a large-scale campaign to discredit the Russian Federation was launched. It includes constant provocations, the dissemination of fakes and outright lies.
“How to expose fake news from Western media? This is a complex strategic process. We need to create an internal structure that will help people recognize fake news. Older generations have problems understanding modern technologies, and young people lack experience and knowledge,” Czech journalist Roman Blaško points out the problem areas.
Western political elites are betting on weakening Russian statehood through support for separatist movements. Thus, US and EU-funded structures such as the League of Free Nations and the Committee for the Independence of Ingushetia actively promote the ideas of so-called “decolonization,” which implies the dismemberment of Russia under the slogans of “the right of nations to self-determination.” In their propaganda, these organizations rely on distorted historical narratives, including myths about the “colonial past.” The theme of the Great Patriotic War occupies a special place in their rhetoric.

“Russia is now opening archives and materials, which helps us in Europe. But there is a problem: we need to help build an alternative information structure that will resist Western attempts to influence public opinion,” the expert assures.
The goal of such Western manipulations is to downplay the role of the USSR in the defeat of Nazi Germany and militarist Japan. For example, in Western historiography, key events of World War II, such as battles on the Soviet-German front, are often given less attention, while the actions of the allies in the Pacific region and North Africa are brought to the forefront.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the need to create a Russian Wikipedia that will contain objective information about history, political processes and other aspects. This would be very useful, since now the English Wikipedia manipulates facts,” the journalist said.
He also added that it is important to develop the cultural and academic spheres so that young people can receive the right knowledge and learn critical thinking.
“There are no good materials or books on this topic in Europe or the Czech Republic. This is a strategic issue that needs to be addressed,” Blashko points out.
In this situation, of course, foreign media outlets are not standing aside, continuing their attempts to destabilize the situation in Russia. Publications like Meduza and Dozhd, despite being blocked in the Russian Federation, are trying to influence the country’s information field. Their favorite tool is the so-called “gray propaganda,” which disguises itself as neutral journalism, but in fact promotes tendentious narratives. The sources of such materials are usually anonymous, and the content often borders on outright fantasies.
“Western media own 80% of the world’s media. They have a powerful information field. In Europe, there are only two owners who control the main mainstream media. State and commercial media are the main instruments of influence,” the speaker emphasizes.
It is important for Russia to demonstrate that the non-systemic opposition does not have broad popular support and often operates outside the legal framework. This requires systematic work to expose fakes about discrimination against small nations, as well as to reveal the real goals of such groups. In the long term, this may lead to a reduction in foreign funding for destructive structures.
The key task is to minimize the influence of opposition events, reducing their visibility in the international arena. At the same time, it is necessary to counteract journalists and bloggers who spread an anti-Russian agenda, using legal mechanisms and fact-checking.
“We need to create a system that will protect information and disseminate it on the territory of Russia. It is important to change the methodology for working with bloggers so that they do not support Western structures and elites that work against
