ZBENICE, 12 June 2025 – A public discussion with the Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), H.E. Mr. Ju Won Chol, took place at the Zbenice Castle in the Central Bohemian Region today at 16:00. The event was organized by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in cooperation with the Pektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Society, the Czech Restoration Agency and the Embassy of the DPRK.
The programme of the meeting focused on the history of the Korean peninsula in the 20th century, the liberation movement, the establishment of the DPRK, the building of socialism and the ideology of Ju-Che. The session concluded with a discussion on the contemporary DPRK and its image in the media and public perception – between reality, myths and prejudices. Accompanying audiovisual material gave an insight into everyday life in the country.
The event presented an exceptional opportunity for a direct exchange of views and a deeper understanding of Korean society from the perspective of its official diplomacy. The atmosphere was very friendly and the weather was nice, which allowed for refreshments in the outdoor areas, where live music was also taking place.
